President's Message - May 2017

If you were to ask a random person: “what first comes to mind when you think of an important date in May”?  The most likely response might be Mother’s Day or Memorial Day!  Here at Dean Bank it’s “New Year’s Day”!  April 30 ended the bank’s fiscal year and May 1 began a new one.  Dean Bank is finalizing its financial performance numbers; but preliminary results show that we had a year full of robust deposit growth, an increase in the number of new mortgages granted over last year, almost 100 new auto loans, a tremendous increase in the usage of our Mobile Banking and Mobile Check Deposit products, hundreds of new business banking relationships, more than 1,300 new checking accounts opened, among other metrics.  On behalf of our Management and staff, we all sincerely thank you for demonstrating that Dean Bank…is YOUR Bank.  We expect that the coming year will be filled with even more opportunities to serve you.

May also brings with it news of enhancements to our suite of Electronic Banking products as well as renovations to our Main Office branch.  Next month we will roll out entirely new Bill Pay, Mobile Banking and Mobile Check Deposit products.  Further, our business customers will now have their own electronic Business Banking bundle.  Customers can expect the conversion to occur during the first week of June and we’ll be notifying affected customers via a variety of channels, including email and direct message inside Online Banking.  We’re very excited about these changes and hope you’ll use them to add convenience to your banking.  Planning has begun for our Main Office to undergo extensive renovations later this year; transforming the current footprint into a bright, new and modern branch.  We’ll be sure to keep you informed as the planning continues and work commences and promise you’ll enjoy the same great service with a fresh, new look.

Dean Bank is excited to introduce a new checking account product as well.  With up to 5 convenience fee rebates each month, our IT Checking is the perfect account for people who frequently use other banks’ ATMs.  As you know, Dean Bank never charges its customers to use another bank’s ATM.  Convenience fee rebates provide additional freedom to access to your cash: any place…any time.  For complete details, speak with any of our branch staff.

Finally, if you have plans of travelling over the next few months and your debit card hasn’t been reissued as an EMV chip-enabled card, please stop by any branch.  We’ll instantly replace your current card with a chip-enabled card at no cost.  You can even customize your EMV-chip card with an image of your choosing.  The EMV chip will provide added security as you use it anywhere across the globe.  If you’re travelling abroad, please be sure to inform us ahead of time so that we can be sure your card will continue to work, no matter where you travel.
